Avant Garde'n and it's crew are committed to shipping all domestic (U.S.) orders within 1 business day of receipt. This is the case for most items on our site, though sometimes we may need time to re-order a particular product. We are working on using live stock status for as many of our items as we can, so that you can see if an item is out (NOTE: this feature does not work all the time and is not applied to all products).
Our shopping cart automatically computes shipping costs and is linked
directly into the shipping calculators for FedEx. The calculated amount is usually correct, though there are some exceptions. Certain items are really heavy in relation to their price (like soil), some are extremely light in relation to their size, (like propagation domes), and some still are just too large to ship as a regular ground shipment, (like the Aeroflow 60). In these cases we will make every effort to call or e-mail you to see how you would like to proceed, given the actual shipping cost.
Another factor in shipping charge calculation arises when you order something that is not in-stock. We have the option with many of our products to ship them to you directly from the manufacturer/supplier. In these instances, sometimes the shipping charge calculated is fine, other times it may be too high or too low. When this arises, we will make every effort to call or e-mail you to see what you would like to do. If we decide to ship the item to you directly through the manufacturer/supplier, there is usually a $10 charge to us, (often times we will just pay this for you, but in the event that your item is not very expensive, we may ask you to split it with us or even cover the whole charge). When shipping from the manufacturer/supplier there is also a 10% charge to us on anything that requires a case to be broken; again: often times we will just pay this for you, but in the event that your
item is not very expensive, we may ask you to split it with us or even
cover the whole charge.
REMEMBER: You can always wait for us to re-stock the item to avoid additional charges.
Shipping costs are based on weight, distance traveled and class of
service requested. Note that shipping rates by carriers have been
increasing along with the price of gas. This charge helps defray the
cost of boxes, packing materials, order processing equipment, shipping
labels and other expenses relating to processing, packing and shipping
your order in a manner that assures your merchandise arrives intact and
on-time.
*IMPORTANT: We try our best to get same day orders processed. However, when selecting shipping
options, please be advised that these options are promised from the
time of shipping, not from the time the order was submitted. Please
understand that it takes time to, process the payment, pick your order
from the warehouse, properly pack it in a box, label it and get it
ready for shipping.
The bottom line is that we value your business and we
will do everything possible to ensure that your order gets to you safely and as
quickly as possible.
*FREE SHIPPING is only good for standard ground shipments in the lower 48 states excluding Alaska and Hawaii.
